{"id":27670,"date":"2020-10-06T09:00:46","date_gmt":"2020-10-06T13:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/intelligencecommunitynews.com\/?p=27670"},"modified":"2020-10-06T09:00:46","modified_gmt":"2020-10-06T13:00:46","slug":"boeing-wins-ess-development-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/intelligencecommunitynews.com\/boeing-wins-ess-development-contract\/","title":{"rendered":"Boeing wins ESS development contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">Chicago, IL-based <a href=\"http:\/\/boeing.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Boeing<\/a> announced on October 1 that it has received one of three development contracts to build a satellite payload prototype and develop a new secure, resilient satellite communications architecture for the U.S. Space Force\u2019s Evolved Strategic SATCOM (ESS) program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">ESS will be a military satellite communications (MILSATCOM) system. It is a critical component of the U.S. Space Force\u2019s strategy.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">The initial ESS development contract is valued at $298 million. Contracts for the full ESS system are expected to be awarded in 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">\u201cWe have worked closely with the Space Force to define a program responsive to our nation\u2019s needs,\u201d said Troy Dawson, vice president of Boeing Government Satellite Systems. \u201cBy leveraging our expertise in digital engineering and technologies with synergies across both our government and commercial systems, we\u2019re uniquely positioned to deliver solutions needed to address the ever-evolving threats.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;\">Boeing\u2019s support of the U.S. government\u2019s SATCOM mission spans six decades and has since included programs that span air, land and space domains. The company\u2019s secure MILSATCOM programs include extremely high-frequency payloads, the Wideband Global SATCOM constellation, the Protected Tactical Enterprise Service and Protected Tactical SATCOM program, which deliver survivable, secure and resilient communications to the U.S. military and its allies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Source:
