Westminster, CO-based Maxar Technologies<\/a> announced on October 22 it has signed a joint statement of strategic intent and cooperation with the Australian Space Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the statement, Maxar and Australian Space Agency will investigate\ncollaboration in areas of mutual strategic interest related to Earth intelligence\nand space infrastructure capabilities, and space-related Australian education\nand training initiatives. These projects may include development of\nnext-generation space robotics, ground stations focused on optimized servicing\nof large satellite constellations, optical and communications satellites,\nspace-based maritime surveillance and artificial intelligence and machine\nlearning technologies that extract insights from Earth observation data at\nscale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMaxar is honored to support the Australian Space Agency as it seeks to\nexpand the nation\u2019s role in the international civil space community, and we\nlook forward to contributing technology and expertise from our 65-year heritage\nin space to projects and programs that enable them to achieve this goal,\u201d said\nDan Jablonsky, Maxar CEO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Australian Space Agency aims to triple the size of the Australian space industry to $12 billion and create 20,000 new jobs by 2030,\u201d said Anthony Murfett, deputy head of the Australian Space Agency. \u201cSignings with companies such as Maxar will continue to develop the local space economy, and benefit Australians through space technologies. Cooperation across government, private industry and research both nationally and internationally will provide linkages for Australia to access a greater segment of the global space economy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
