{"id":24438,"date":"2019-10-22T09:11:29","date_gmt":"2019-10-22T13:11:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/intelligencecommunitynews.com\/?p=24438"},"modified":"2019-10-22T09:11:36","modified_gmt":"2019-10-22T13:11:36","slug":"hasc-activates-future-of-defense-task-force","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/intelligencecommunitynews.com\/hasc-activates-future-of-defense-task-force\/","title":{"rendered":"HASC activates Future of Defense Task Force"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On October 18, House Armed Services Committee\nChairman Adam Smith (D-Wash.) and Ranking Member Mac Thornberry (R-Texas)\nannounced the official activation of the Future of Defense Task Force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bipartisan Future of Defense Task Force is\nchartered to review U.S. defense assets and capabilities and assess the state\nof the national security innovation base to meet emerging threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Task Force is co-chaired by Rep. Seth Moulton\n(D-Mass.) and Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Representatives Susan Davis (D-Calif), Chrissy\nHoulahan (D-Pa.), Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.), Scott DesJarlais (R-Tenn.), Paul\nMitchell (R-Mich.) and Michael Waltz (R-Fla.) have agreed to serve on the task\nforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HASC Committee leadership can initiate a task force\nto execute oversight of issues that cross multiple subcommittee jurisdictions\nor are deemed worthy of special attention by its Members. Reps Smith and\nThornberry initiated the Future of Defense Task Force to examine the Department\nof Defense\u2019s strategic priorities, capabilities and operational concepts to\nensure the national security innovation base is poised to meet long-range\nemerging threats and the rise of global competitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From initial activation, the duration of the Task Force is three months with the option of renewal for an additional three months<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Source:
