{"id":24097,"date":"2019-09-20T09:31:53","date_gmt":"2019-09-20T13:31:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/intelligencecommunitynews.com\/?p=24097"},"modified":"2019-09-20T09:32:00","modified_gmt":"2019-09-20T13:32:00","slug":"acting-dni-maguire-issues-statement-on-usa-freedom-act","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/intelligencecommunitynews.com\/acting-dni-maguire-issues-statement-on-usa-freedom-act\/","title":{"rendered":"Acting DNI Maguire issues statement on USA FREEDOM Act"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On September 18, Acting <a href=\"http:\/\/odni.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Director of National Intelligence (opens in a new tab)\">Director of National Intelligence<\/a> Joseph Maguire issued the following statement about the USA FREEDOM Act:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u201cUSA FREEDOM Act of 2015\u201d preserves significant national security authorities, enhances privacy and civil liberties protections, and increases transparency.<br> <br> The Administration supports a clean and permanent reauthorization of all the USA FREEDOM Act provisions of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act that will expire in December 2019, including the \u201clone wolf\u201d and \u201croving wiretap\u201d authorities, and the acquisition of business records, including call-detail records, under Title V of FISA. The USA FREEDOM Act extensively amended these authorities to prohibit bulk collection, and it provides us with the necessary tools to keep Americans safe.<br> <br> We look forward to working with
