For nearly three decades, the AN/PVS-14 monocular night vision system set the global benchmark, trusted by American and allied forces in operation around the world. BiNOD is set to redefine that benchmark and deliver the next evolution of overmatch for all parts of the maneuvering force, the company said.

In late 2019, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency (CBP) selected the company’s Intelligent Trailer Mounted Surveillance Tower solution for use along the U.S. southern border. In April 2020, the Combating Terrorism Technical Support Office (CTTSO) selected Elbit Systems of America’s Autonomous Relocatable Surveillance Tower system for future deployment by U.S. Departments of Defense and Homeland Security.

The trailer-mounted system selected by the CBP is a relocatable configuration designed to quickly deploy surveillance capability to examine border areas of increased activity or with land use and environmental concerns. The 80-foot tower system provides superior long-range situational awareness, using integrated, advanced surveillance sensors, including electro-optical and infrared cameras and ground surveillance radars that transmit imagery and locations for items of interest in real time to the TORCH Common Operating Picture located at command and control centers and to Agents in the field.

As part of the CTTSO program, Elbit Systems of America will demonstrate the capabilities of a trailer-mounted, 110-foot tower, equipped with a suite of cutting-edge sensors, in various conditions over the next year. The long-range sensor payload on this tower system consists of a ground surveillance radar, a high-resolution day camera, a thermal camera, and a laser illuminator. The tower’s trailer provides electronic enclosures, security features and a power generator. This trailer-based tower can be quickly deployed to areas-of-interest and set up by users in less than two hours.

The Autonomous Relocatable Surveillance Tower system uses artificial intelligence/computer vision to automatically maintain situational awareness by autonomously detecting, tracking, and identifying items of interest and then sending the information to command and control centers with no operator intervention. This increased level of automation and autonomy reduces operator workload to the point where fewer Agents are needed in the command & control center to surveil larger portions of the border allowing some to return to the field.

NICE’s Cyber and Intelligence division offers solutions which provide law enforcement agencies and intelligence organizations with tools for creating communication intelligence. The division’s yearly revenue in 2014 was in the high tens of millions of dollars.

The Cyber and Intelligence division will be acquired by CYBERBIT LTD (“CYBERBIT”), Elbit Systems’ subsidiary, recently established in order to consolidate Elbit Systems’ existing activities relating to the Cyber Intelligence and Cyber Security markets. CYBERBIT will focus on both the emerging government and commercial cyber markets, leveraging Elbit Systems extensive and proven cyber experience and technologies.

Adi Dar, an Executive Vice President of Elbit Systems, was appointed as CYBERBIT’s General Manager. The Nice Cyber and Intelligence division’s employees will become employees of CYBERBIT.

With growing demands for actionable information and knowledge for the warfighter, there is a critical need for solutions that enable true terrain dominance and intelligence-based warfare.

At the upcoming Association of United States Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting & Exposition in Washington, DC, October 13-15, Elbit will showcase a line-up of next-generation systems and solutions enabling the U.S. Army to react as a unified force with unprecedented speed, precision and intelligence.

Intelligence gathering and knowledge dissemination are key components of Elbit Systems of America’s rapid mobility solution. Connectivity, situational awareness and combat effectiveness are improved via a command and control network.

In one scenario, the mission might begin with the Skylark I-LE, Block 2, unmanned aerial system (UAS) flying silently overhead. Using a unique gyroscopically stabilized, gimbaled payload and proven flight control algorithms to provide automatic tracking of dynamic targets, the Skylark quickly transmits information back to the soldiers on the ground. Equipped with a Micro Designator Marker (MDM) laser, the system can precisely designate targets allowing ground forces to respond with laser-guided munitions fired from Elbit’s mobile 120 mm mortar system. Ground commanders can then choreograph and degrade threats while reducing their own casualties. The Skylark system creates intelligence, delivers targets of opportunity and assists in closing the loop with shooters.

The MDM is just one example of Elbit Systems of America’s game-changers. Leveraging advances in laser and optical technologies, Elbit is transforming tactical systems such as the small UAS into precision engagement enablers.

Another example is the Enhanced Joint Terminal Attack Controller Laser Target Designator (EJTAC LTD). A light-weight laser designator/rangefinder, at less than five pounds, is a foot mobile solution for guidance of munitions and a laser hand-off to aircraft. Featuring a digital magnetic compass and near infrared laser pointer, the EJTAC LTD is effective during both day and night missions.

The Swiss Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (“DDPS”) has selected Elbit Systems Ltd., of Israel, as the “preferred supplier” for its UAS 15 new reconnaissance drone program.

Under the 2015 arms procurement program, efforts are in progress to replace the current UAV system, which is reaching the end of its life cycle, explains a press release issued by the Federal Department of Defence in Switzerland. In order to ensure its replacement in good time, the new model has been chosen, which allows the dispatch on procurement to be drawn up.

The model that has been chosen is the Hermes 900 HFE, manufactured by the Israeli Elbit Systems company. It is an unarmed reconnaissance drone system, which has been preferred to its competitor, Super Heron, built by Israel Aerospace Industries. The Hermes 900 HFE has been favored because it delivered the better overall result in all assessed criteria, says the Swiss government. In the pre-evaluation, these two UAV systems were the best in meeting the requirements.

The Hermes 900 HFE system is an all-weather unarmed reconnaissance drone system that is more flexible, has longer endurance in the air and a wider operational range than the system currently in use, says the Swiss press release.

“The new UAVs are unarmed,” adds the release. “Currently, combat drones are not an option for the DDPS. The use of the UAV will be explained extensively in the context of the dispatch on procurement, the Armed Forces Development Programme and the Security Policy Report. The decision to procure the new reconnaissance drone system (ADS 15), which will cost around 250 million francs, will most probably be submitted for approval to Parliament with the 2015 armaments programme.”
