On May 4, Booz Allen Hamilton announced it was awarded an Other Transaction Authority agreement by the U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command as part of Golden Dome for America’s Space-Based Interceptor (SBI) program. The award focuses on the development and delivery of a prototype system for space-based missile defense.

“Booz Allen is uniquely positioned to field emerging capabilities that drive the critical mission of Golden Dome for America,” said Angela Wallace, executive vice president. “Over the last decade, we have invested in space-based missile defense to deliver advanced technology to the mission at speed. We look forward to our continued partnership with the Department of War to advance the future of homeland defense.”

The global strategic landscape has changed, and a new generation of threats hold the homeland at risk. Golden Dome for America’s USSF SBI program aims to address this gap by developing and deploying a proliferated Low Earth Orbit constellation of interceptors capable of boost, midcourse, and glide phase engagements.

“Booz Allen’s decades of command and control and missile defense experience paired with our advanced software and AI solutions deliver a modern approach to the SBI mission with a performance-first mindset,” said Katie Carr, an engineering director in Booz Allen’s national security business.

On May 4, True Anomaly announced its expansion into space-based interceptors (SBIs) and its selection to perform within the U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) SBI program. As part of Golden Dome for America, the SBI program responds to a generational mandate to protect the United States homeland from potential ballistic missile and hypersonic attacks.

“Our role on the Space-Based Interceptor program is to deliver space-based systems capable of intercepting missiles under extreme engagement conditions while achieving a unit cost and level of reliability necessary for scale,” said Even Rogers, CEO and co-founder of True Anomaly. “As we have with all of our products to date, we are investing at scale and bringing together private capital, world-class talent, and industry-leading partners to harness American innovation and execute a program with enormous national security implications.”

True Anomaly was among twelve companies awarded OTA agreements by SSC, a select group spanning both traditional defense primes and leading commercial space companies. The awards represent a combined value of up to $3.2 billion across twenty agreements, designed to develop a proliferated Low Earth Orbit constellation of interceptors capable of boost, midcourse, and glide phase engagements, with an initial capability demonstration targeted for 2028.

The company’s expansion into space-based interceptors extends its portfolio into one of the most consequential national security challenges, enabled by a new level of partnership between the defense industrial base and the U.S. government.

AeroVironment, Inc. (AV) and SNC announced a strategic partnership to align multi-domain capabilities to define and build the next generation of integrated, open architecture air & missile defense in support of the Golden Dome for America (GDA).

“The Trump Administration understands what has been a long-held belief within the defense industry – there is an immediate and critical need for a layered system that provides a last line of defense to protect America against current threats and next-generation aerial attacks from near-peer and rogue nations,” said Wahid Nawabi, AV chairman, president and chief executive officer. “Together, AV and SNC can rapidly provide novel and affordable defensive solutions, ensuring unmatched limited area ‘under-dome’ protection for critical U.S. infrastructure.”

AV and SNC are building a proven industrial base team focused on providing comprehensive, layered defenses within GDA, that shield specific, limited-area, high-value locations, such as bases, ships, airfields or critical infrastructure, but then can extend its range as new sensors and interceptors are brought online, particularly from space.

AV and SNC are integrating and aligning existing, open architecture solutions using passive and active sensing, radio frequency, directed energy, kinetic energy, electronic warfare and cyber solutions, addressing the complete kill chain to neutralize group 1-4 unmanned aerial systems (UAS), advanced cruise missiles and other next generation aerial threats. Additionally, SNC sister company, Sierra Space, and AV are exploring synergies to address critical GDA challenges.

“An ambitious, next-generation shield that protects the American homeland from more complex threats requires industry ingenuity and collaboration on par with the Manhattan Project,” said SNC CEO Fatih Ozmen. “With our legacy of complex systems integration and open architecture expertise, SNC is thrilled to work with AV to bring together complementary capabilities and cutting-edge technologies to make Americans safer.”

On May 13, the Defense Intelligence Agency announced that it recently released an unclassified assessment titled “Golden Dome for America: Current and Future Missile Threats to the U.S. Homeland” to depict threats a sophisticated missile defense system for the United States would defend against. The product presents the agency’s unclassified intelligence on adversary missile threats and capabilities.

In the coming decade, missile threats to the U.S. Homeland from more advanced conventional- and nuclear-capable delivery systems will expand in scale and sophistication. DIA profiles the missile threat and inventories in six categories: intercontinental ballistic missiles, submarine-launched ballistic missiles, two types of hypersonic weapons, land attack cruise missiles, and fractional orbital bombardment systems.

On April 16, L3Harris Technologies announced that it has completed a $125 million expansion at its space manufacturing facility in Fort Wayne to support the Department of Defense’s urgent need for on-orbit technology to defend the homeland by building a “Golden Dome” around the United States. L3Harris’ investment in facilities in Indiana will enable these strategic capabilities to be delivered in the later half of the president’s second term.

Members of Indiana’s congressional delegation participated in the dedication ceremony today for the expanded 95,000-square-foot facility, which will support engineering, integration, testing and program management for L3Harris’ missile defense programs.

“The new investments and construction by L3Harris in Fort Wayne are a crucial step in making the defensive capabilities of our country ‘Made in America’ again,” said Rep. Marlin Stutzman (R-IN). “The incoming jobs to our community will boost our local economy to the tune of millions of dollars. More companies should follow L3Harris’ lead in returning their operations to our shores and uplifting the communities that made them what they are today.”

“Accelerating the nation’s missile warning and defense capabilities is a priority for national security as we move forward with supporting President Trump’s vision for America’s Golden Dome,” said Ed Zoiss, President, Space and Airborne Systems, L3Harris. “With capacity to produce 48 payloads per year, we continue to deliver at the scale and speed our defense customers require and are successfully poised to protect against threats to our homeland.”
