On May 8, Summit 7 announced a milestone. The company has helped over 100 clients receive their Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2 assessment certification. This achievement represents a momentous step forward for the protection of American defense intellectual property and further establishes Summit 7’s leadership as the trusted cybersecurity partner for the Defense Industrial Base (DIB), the company said.

“We are incredibly proud of the work we have done since 2016 to implement secure infrastructure and ultimately prepare our clients for CMMC certification,” said Scott Edwards, CEO of Summit 7. “I would like to congratulate these organizations and their hardworking teams on fortifying themselves and our nation against critical cyber threats. I would also like to thank Microsoft for their partnership and commitment to quality platforms and services, both of which have heavily contributed to the DIB’s certification success.”

In response to ever growing cyber threats from adversarial nations, the Department of War (DoW) is holding defense contractors to a higher standard than ever.

“Organizations with CMMC certifications show the DoW and prime contractors that they take their contractual obligations and security of the data they hold seriously,” Joy Beland, VP of cybersecurity compliance for Summit 7 said. “Cybersecurity is one of the greatest threats to our generation, and each organization that gets CMMC certified in the Defense Industrial Base is doing their part in securing the supply chain which ultimately protects the American dream.”

“Our clients have so much dedication to their respective crafts, and it’s been an honor to guide them through implementation and the certification process,” said Caleb Leidy, director of compliance for Summit 7. “CMMC Level 2 Certifications are hard-earned and will serve these 100 organizations well. We look forward to continuing our support in maintaining those certifications.”

On August 7, Defense Trade Solutions (DTS) and Summit 7, a provider of cybersecurity and compliance solutions for the Defense Industrial Base (DIB), announced a strategic partnership to provide comprehensive support to defense contractors navigating both the technical and regulatory dimensions of doing business with the U.S. Department of Defense.

Under this new partnership, DTS will serve as a trusted trade compliance advisor available to Summit 7 clients, and Summit 7 will be DTS’s preferred partner for Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) readiness, cloud security, and NIST 800-171 compliance services.

By combining DTS’s subject-matter expertise in International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and Technology Security & Foreign Disclosure (TSFD) with Summit 7’s leadership in cybersecurity architecture and Microsoft cloud transformation, the partnership will:

  • Enable DIB suppliers to address both export and cybersecurity compliance mandates
  • Reduce risk through integrated technology and trade compliance strategies
  • Support companies in achieving CMMC certification and DFARS 7012/NIST 800-171 compliance
  • Improve security posture across global programs involving controlled technical data
  • Streamline readiness for audits and U.S. Government engagements

“Summit 7 is the gold standard when it comes to cybersecurity and CMMC readiness in the defense space,” said Steven Casazza, president of Defense Trade Solutions. “We are excited to partner with an organization that not only shares our national security mission but also complements our expertise with deep technical capability and scalable security solutions for defense contractors of all sizes.”

Kathy Gibbs, director of partners and alliances at Summit 7, said, “This partnership reflects our long-standing belief that cybersecurity doesn’t exist in a vacuum. By joining forces with DTS, we’re empowering contractors to align their cybersecurity and export compliance strategies from day one, reducing risk and accelerating mission readiness.”

On April 30, Summit 7 announced it has entered into a strategic partnership with Hypori, a pioneer in secure virtual mobile access.

Already in the Beta Phase with clients, Summit 7 and Hypori are helping organizations in the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) utilize mobile, virtual workspaces to ensure Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) compliance and allow access to controlled unclassified information (CUI) data—further accelerating bring-your-own-device (BYOD) adoption by keeping sensitive data off mobile devices while maintaining personal privacy.

This partnership brings together Summit 7’s compliance expertise and Hypori’s virtual BYOD technology to help defense contractors:

  • Securely access CUI and enterprise apps from any mobile device
  • Exclude mobile devices from CMMC Level 2 assessment scope
  • Reduce costs associated with managing corporate devices (e.g., phone plans, hardware refreshes, inventory management)
  • Support mobility without compromising security

“At Summit 7, we’re focused on helping contractors meet compliance requirements in the most secure and efficient way possible,” said Scott Edwards, CEO of Summit 7. “Hypori enables secure mobile access without added risk or complexity—eliminating the need to carry multiple devices when accessing multiple Microsoft 365 tenants, whether through an enclave or virtual desktop implementation.”

“Summit 7 is a trusted name in the DIB when it comes to compliance. We’re excited to support their mission by making secure mobile access easier and more efficient for contractors,” said Wayne Lewandowski, Hypori’s chief revenue officer.

On February 20, Summit 7, a trusted partner for DoD cybersecurity, compliance, and managed services, with the largest team of certified experts in the Defense Industrial Base (DIB), announced that it has officially achieved dual CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification) Level 2 assessment certifications. This milestone further solidifies Summit 7’s position as the trusted partner for proactive, excellence-driven organizations.

The first certification demonstrates that Summit 7 corporate meets DFARS 252.204-7012 and 7021 requirements, including its capability to process, store, and transmit Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) as part of a federal contract. The second certification is focused on Summit 7’s Guardian and Vigilance Managed Services offerings, validating its Shared Responsibility Matrix in all areas where Summit 7 provides full or partial coverage of NIST 800-171r2 control implementation on behalf of its customers.

“Summit 7 completing our CMMC L2 assessment is not just about compliance—it’s about building confidence and trust within the DIB,” said Scott Edwards, CEO of Summit 7. “For over eight years, we’ve been equipping defense contractors with the appropriate tools, knowledge, and services needed to meet and exceed the government’s security requirements. We standardized our offerings on the industry leading Microsoft Azure Government and Microsoft 365 GCC High platforms from the beginning. Achieving the dual CMMC certifications underscores our commitment to leading by example and ensuring the security of our nation’s supply chain.”

The certifications come in the wake of the finalized 32 CFR rule, which has made the CMMC certification process a reality for the DIB. Since the effective date of DFARS 252.204-7012 in 2016, Summit 7 has worked tirelessly to prepare its clients for this moment, providing comprehensive services that address the unique challenges faced by defense contractors handling CUI.

“This milestone demonstrates the strength and depth of our commitment to compliance and security,” said Joy Beland, VP of cybersecurity compliance at Summit 7. “These dual certifications validate our ability to meet the stringent requirements of DFARS and to deliver reliable, high-quality service offerings through our Guardian and Vigilance solutions. We’re proud to set an example for the DIB and help strengthen national security.”

“The stakes have never been higher for national security and the businesses that support it,” Edwards added. “These certifications are a signal to our over 1,000 DIB customers that we’re not only committed to their security posture and our compliance with the CMMC requirements, but to protecting the integrity of the supply chain for years to come. We’re honored to help companies do things the right way—the first time.”

The partnership will provide Carahsoft’s large network of government customers and resellers with access to Summit 7’s expertise in cybersecurity, compliance and advanced cloud solutions.
