Through this collaboration, GDIT will work with NightDragon to align leading cybersecurity, national security, and defense companies in NightDragon’s portfolio with U.S. government programs supported by GDIT. This will enable accelerated insertion of innovative commercial technology in complex, highly regulated government environments in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and autonomy across all six domains, including air, sea, land, space, and cyber. The certification validates that GDIT’s towers meet the funding requirements of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act for large-scale deployment of autonomous surveillance systems. The bill requires that autonomous systems apply artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, computer vision or other algorithms to accurately detect, identify, classify and track items of interest in real time.

GDIT’s autonomous surveillance towers, a critical element of the CBP’s flagship border surveillance program called the Consolidated Tower & Surveillance Equipment (CTSE) program, will enable the agency to perform surveillance along the borders even more effectively. Built with commercial technology, the autonomous towers employ edge AI/machine learning, patented video analytics and advanced microwave, 5G and satellite communication capabilities for real-time surveillance. This reduces operator workloads, accelerates decision-making, enhances situational awareness and safety, and allows Border Patrol agents to focus on critical field operations.

VIA is the next step in the company’s technology investment strategy launched in 2023, which resulted in sustained revenue growth and $18.3 billion of new business and recompete contract awards leveraging its Digital Accelerator portfolio. The strategy also established GDIT’s leading position in artificial intelligence (AI), cyber and integrated mission technology solutions.

Building on General Dynamics’ $1.2 billion of broader capital investment in facility expansion and advanced manufacturing in 2025, the VIA strategy significantly increases GDIT’s investment in new technology capabilities, research and development labs, and workforce development. The strategy focuses on five key pillars:

Increase investment in strategic market segments. Enhance business execution. The company is making organizational investments to further enhance business execution and accelerate continued innovation, including forming a new enterprise business office to oversee corporate development strategies and operational functions, expanding its AI, cyber and mission software Centers of Excellence and growing its Emerging Technology Program.

Build AI-empowered workforce of the future: Underpinning these efforts is a focus on creating career paths for employees through internal mobility and training programs to ensure GDIT’s workforce remains at the forefront of technology and mission delivery. Since 2023, 12,000 GDIT employees have moved internally to take advantage of new opportunities and over 9,000 employees received technical certifications in AI, cyber and other technologies. Through this collaboration, GDIT will combine its decades of mission and integration expertise with Google Cloud’s AI, cloud and cybersecurity offerings. GDIT will integrate its Digital Accelerators portfolio onto Google Cloud to rapidly develop and deploy solutions that will enable federal agencies to speed up decision-making, enhance security, deliver savings and advance missions.

The first focus area for this collaboration is co-investment in the development of “mission edge AI” solutions. GDIT will leverage Google Distributed Cloud to bring AI and computing to remote, disconnected environments, where communication is unreliable, restricted, or even completely cut off. Google Distributed Cloud provides a portable, ruggedized “cloud-in-a-box” that is authorized to operate securely at the Secret level (U.S. Department of War Impact Level 6) and allows users to run workloads even when offline. At the recent Exercise Mobility Guardian 2025, the U.S. Air Force’s premier military exercise in the Indo-Pacific region, GDIT integrated its AI digital accelerator and successfully demonstrated this solution to support air mobility operations at the tactical edge.

The second focus area will enable federal agencies to modernize citizen engagement services leveraging GDIT’s AI solutions and Google Cloud’s Contact Center AI Platform. The solutions will incorporate a wide variety of AI capabilities, including conversational, generative, and agentic AI, to create efficiencies and improve the citizen service experience across civilian and health agencies. For example, GDIT and Google Public Sector recently modernized a large service desk for a major federal agency supporting millions of users, which resulted in $12 million in savings and a 40% reduction in the volume of calls.

Mobility Guardian is the U.S. Air Force’s premier military exercise held biennially in the Indo-Pacific region. Led by the Air Mobility Command, the exercise is designed to enhance interoperability and readiness between the Air Force and its allies in a wide range of activities, including airlift, troop movements, aerial refueling and other air mobility operations. Bringing together thousands of airmen from multiple nations, the event demonstrates the Air Force’s ability to rapidly deploy and sustain joint forces in Denied, Disrupted, Intermittent, and Limited (D-DIL) environments, where communication is unreliable, restricted, or even completely cut off.

During the exercise, GDIT and Google Public Sector demonstrated Google Distributed Cloud air-gapped appliance, a portable, ruggedized “cloud-in-a-box” solution approved by the Department of War (DOW). The solution enabled Air Force teams to seamlessly collaborate and address seven mission-critical use cases at the tactical edge, including Language Translation, Optical Character Recognition and Retrieval-Augmented Generation, among others. The solution leverages cutting-edge artificial intelligence capabilities, including Google’s open large language models to synthesize data in real-time, generate insights and support faster decision-making. The solution also applies zero trust principles to ensure controlled user access across multiple communication channels; supports hybrid-cloud flexibility; and enables teams to quickly and securely update mission software. This is the first deployment of this solution in the Indo-Pacific region to support D-DIL air mobility operations.
