On May 15, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) posted a request for information (RFI) for HATTERAS. Responses are due by 1:00 p.m. Eastern on June 3, according to SAM.gov.

The HATTERAS RFI is posted on the classified Intelligence Community Acquisition Research Center (ARC) website at https://acq-ui.ace.proj.nro.ic.gov.

How to access the classified ARC website

Interested parties must have a TS/SCI clearance as this effort is being posted on the classified ARC website. You must also have a classified ARC account, to access the classified ARC website. To obtain a classified ARC account, interested parties must contact the ACE IT Helpdesk which can be reached at (703) 230-6300 or acehelpdesk@westfields.net. On May 13, the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) posted a request for information (RFI) for a GEOINT AI/ML Algorithm (Maverick). Responses are due by 5:00 p.m. Eastern on June 18.

AFLCMC’s Command and Control Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C2ISR) Division requires site support functions and logistics sustainment necessary to maintain capabilities for Global Network Systems. Through this requirement, the Government is seeking individuals with strong background and experience with algorithm management.

These individuals must be able to perform higher integration and orchestration functions in the management and oversight of the architecture, its systems and programs. They must also possess an exceptional understanding of the fundamental principles of algorithm invocation and workflows for processing against geospatial imagery and integrating algorithm marketplace systems with existing complex geospatial processing capabilities.

Interested parties are requested to respond to this RFI by providing a company capability statement pertaining to relevant areas of expertise, including (but not limited to:

  • GEOINT AI/ML Algorithm Orchestration Framework
  • GEOINT AI/ML Exploitation Applications
  • GEOINT AI/ML Algorithm Storefront & Repository Integration

 

Only prime contractors shall complete a capability statement; however, prime contractors are able to include information provided by their subcontractors in their response.

On May 8, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency released the Astrea Request for Proposal (RFP). Questions are due by 2:00 p.m. Eastern on May 22, and proposals are due by 2:00 p.m. Eastern on June 26, according to SAM.gov.

Astrea’s focus is on the measurement of surface optical properties and bulk properties of materials, the development of models that use the measurements to create signatures of interest, and the curation of material databases created by other organizations not software development, maintenance of existing software or exploitation.

The Astrea RFP was released on the Acquisition Center of Excellence, CLASSIFIED Acquisition Research Center, 8 May 2026. Questions shall be submitted IAW the RFP instructions, to Contracting POCs Joseph Cloft and Kelvin Chau no later than 1400 ET on 22 May 2026.

On April 3, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) posted a presolicitation notice for Astrea. NGA is providing this presolicitation notice of its intent to conduct a Full and Open Competition for Astrea Requirement. NGA anticipates release of a solicitation / Request for Proposal (RFP) on or around April 21.

The Astrea contract, a follow-on to the Spectrum contract, will produce a database that provides a system of data, parameters, and models that allow for the characterization of effective reflectivity, emissivity, and radiance as a function of arbitrary source, sensor, and target geometry, while estimating the errors associated with the computed values.

It is contemplated that the solicitation will be posted to the CLASSIFIED Intelligence Community-Acquisition Research Center (IC-ARC) website https://acq.nro.ic.gov. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 541715.

On March 31, Cubic Digital Intelligence (CDI), a provider of defense software for geospatial intelligence and full-motion video dissemination, announced that its TAKTICS solution has achieved “Awardable” status through the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office’s (CDAO) Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace.

The Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace is the Department of War’s digital repository of post-competition, readily awardable pitch videos designed to accelerate procurement of AI, data and analytics capabilities across the enterprise.

TAKTICS is CDI’s enterprise GEOINT dissemination platform built specifically for the TAK ecosystem. It automates delivery of mission-critical imagery, terrain and vector data from secure repositories directly to TAK devices, enabling operators to access current geospatial intelligence even in disconnected, denied, degraded, intermittent and low-bandwidth (DDIL) environments. TAKTICS eliminates manual data preparation, reduces dependency on reach-back networks and synchronizes GEOINT from enterprise to tactical edge in seconds.

On April 1, Vantor, a provider of unified spatial intelligence from space to ground, announced that it has been awarded its third National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Luno contract to provide NGA and other U.S. government agencies automated, near real-time orbital intelligence of high-interest objects in space.

Under the $2.3 million contract, Vantor will utilize its high-resolution imagery of space objects, also known as non-Earth Imagery (NEI), to deliver intelligence on priority objects in low Earth orbit, including providing alerts when anomalies are present. The analysis will be largely automated, marking a significant step forward in eliminating manual processing and accelerating timely and actionable insights for Space Domain Awareness.

“In a contested domain like space, awareness is everything,” said Susanne Hake, executive vice president and general manager, U.S. government at Vantor.  “Still, it’s the one domain where exquisite visual intelligence is extremely hard to come by, creating literal and figurative blind spots. Our NEI capabilities are one of the few technologies that can provide high-resolution visual intelligence of objects in space, providing intelligence analysts and decisionmakers with a deeper understanding of the behavior and intent of high-interest space objects—a decisive edge in an increasingly complex environment.”

Vantor’s orbital intelligence capabilities can provide insights into a space object’s features, health, velocity, and movements, including whether an object is changing orbit—a situation that could endanger the safety of U.S. assets in space. Vantor satellites can capture images of other spacecraft at an industry-leading resolution of less than 10 cm from hundreds of kilometers away, making it possible to quickly characterize those space objects and determine their health and status.

This award marks the third win for Vantor under NGA’s Luno program. Vantor previously announced a Luno contract to automatically detect land use land cover change at global scale, enabling NGA to anticipate where maps and their features may require updates. And in June, Vantor was awarded a Luno contract to deliver AI/ML-generated object detection services to identify assets across air, maritime, land, and rail domains; determine counts at specified locations; detect trends and anomalies; and perform advanced spatial and temporal geospatial intelligence analysis.

“These awards reflect the core of Vantor’s mission—to deliver real-time intelligence faster than the speed of threat, from space to ground,” said Hake. “By integrating our persistent monitoring, change detection, and space-domain awareness capabilities, we’re empowering our partners to understand and act on threats across every domain, before they emerge.”

On March 31, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) posted a sources sought notice for Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM). Responses are due by 5:00 p.m. Eastern on April 14.

NGA in support of the Office of Counterintelligence (SIC) is seeking information on how an interested contractor could provide security support services to integrate, enhance, and optimize technical security and signals countermeasures programs in support of the protection of national intelligence, sources, and methods, including sensitive compartmented information, and the facilities, systems, and networks that house them.

The purpose of this sources sought is to determine if adequate competition exists in the commercial marketplace to meet the requirements outlined in the NGA TSCM Draft Statement of Work (SOW) dated 25 March 2026.

NGA has a mission-critical need for technical security support services to the Office of Counterintelligence necessary to complete associated tasks and responsibilities in the following functional areas outlined below:

  • Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM): Pre-Construction Surveys, Emergency Surveys, Routine Surveys, In-Place Monitoring
  • Data Engineering: Database design, implementation, and management
  • Software Development: Application design, coding, testing, and maintenance

On March 29, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) announced that it is sponsoring the launch of three small satellites this spring to revolutionize how we measure Earth’s magnetic field. Developed through MagQuest, a 6-year, multimillion-dollar global competition, the satellites will launch aboard the Transporter-16 rideshare mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, planned for March 30.

“We are on the verge of proving that small, affordable satellites can deliver the high-quality magnetic data our nation depends on,” said Mike Paniccia, NGA’s program manager for the World Magnetic Model. “These teams have spent the past few years pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with CubeSat technology, and this launch is the moment where all of that ingenuity meets the ultimate test.”

This mission represents the first-ever effort to collect reliable geomagnetic data using CubeSat technology. Once in orbit, the three CubeSats, equipped with novel solutions for precisely measuring Earth’s magnetic field, will provide data to update the World Magnetic Model — a critical infrastructure that underpins navigation for military operations, commercial aviation, and everyday mobile devices worldwide.

The current World Magnetic Model, WMM2025, is maintained using data from the European Space Agency’s Swarm mission, launched in 2013. NGA launched the MagQuest competition in 2019, seeking new, more resilient ways to collect geomagnetic data.

The CubeSat solutions developed through MagQuest can be built, launched, and operated for a fraction of the cost of the current system. MagQuest also demonstrates the effectiveness of open innovation and interagency collaboration in tackling a vital national security challenge.  Testing facilities and experts at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, supported technology evaluations and analysis; NASA’s Center of Excellence for Collaborative Innovation administered the challenge; and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Centers for Environmental Information provided technical support.

MagQuest’s open innovation approach intentionally attracted novel solutions from a unique group of innovators. Each team has developed a distinct CubeSat solution for collecting high-quality geomagnetic data from low-Earth orbit:

  • Compact Spaceborne Magnetic Observatory CubeSat, University of Colorado Boulder
  • Diamond-Powered Geomagnetic Data Collection from LEO, Spire Global and SBQuantum
  • Io-1, Iota Technology

 

The teams delivered their completed satellites to Exolaunch for final integration for launch. Following a successful launch and satellite deployment, each team will begin geomagnetic data collection and compare their findings to WMM2025.

An expert review panel will evaluate each team’s data across key milestones. The results of MagQuest will inform NGA’s acquisition strategy for a WMM global magnetic field data collection capability, to support production of the next global update, WMM2030.

GCS Geospatial and Hobu, Inc. announced on March 19 that they have recently concluded support for National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Boosting Innovative GEOINT Research Broad Agency Announcement (BIG-R BAA) Topic 10 “Advanced 3D Analytic Tool Development, Enhancement, and Integration.”

The team delivered an update to its browser-based Eptium tool that enables simultaneous co-exploitation of multiple cloud-native 3D datatypes. The team also delivered improvements to its Line-of-Sight (LOS) plugin to Applied Imagery’s Quick Terrain Modeler (QTM), alongside a novel approach to reporting viewsheds with multi-class output.

Eptium is a browser-based Electronic Light Table (ELT) that supports analytics, visualization, and light exploitation of cloud optimized point clouds (COPC), cloud optimized GeoTIFFs (COG), and the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) 3D Tiles. The Hobu, Inc. team expanded Eptium’s analytical capabilities and responded to beta tester feedback while improving performance throughout, especially for point cloud and raster rendering.

Using Cesium’s API, Eptium can now generate rays between an observer and target point(s), collecting information on intersections along the sight line(s). These collected points are rendered and can be exported as a Polygon File Format (PLY). The 3D Viewshed tool works with any Cesium-renderable data types, including point clouds, 3D Models, and terrain mesh.
