Together, Second Front and DAF CLOUDworks are establishing a scalable, secure pathway for the Department of War (DoW) and the Intelligence Community (IC) to rapidly operationalize commercial software across classified and unclassified environments. By integrating Game Warden into DAF CLOUDworks’ infrastructure, the partnership enables software to move more efficiently across mission environments without restarting security and deployment processes from scratch. This helps reduce infrastructure duplication, lower operational burden on technical security teams, and accelerate the delivery of critical capabilities to the field.

The Air Force Research Laboratory and AFWERX have partnered to streamline the SBIR and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) process by accelerating the small business experience through faster proposal to award timelines, changing the pool of potential applicants by expanding opportunities to small business, and eliminating bureaucratic overhead by continually implementing process improvement changes in contract execution. The DAF began offering the Open Topic SBIR/STTR program in 2018 which expanded the range of innovations the DAF funded, and as awarded on Jan. 15, 2026, QuSecure will continue its journey to create and provide innovative capabilities that will strengthen the national defense of the United States of America.

“This TACFI award advances QuSecure’s work with Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) to provide cryptographic resilience in support of the strategic deterrence mission,” said Patrick Shore, director of strategy, government at QuSecure. “AFGSC operates some of the nation’s most enduring platforms, including the B-52, where secure communications and trusted cryptography are critical for mission success. The Special Operations Forces and Personnel Recovery Division’s (AFLCMC/WIS) mission is to: Deliver Dominance to Air Force Special Warfare and Special Operations Command warfighters worldwide. The division delivers support to Special Warfare operators across the spectrum, provides Asymmetric Operations support, and fields Tactical and Small Uncrewed Aerial Systems. Additionally, the Division holds a Rapid Development Integration Facility that performs engineering, design, manufacturing, and modifications across Air Force platforms.

The Capabilities Development Office (CDO) is responsible for the analysis, planning, and development of future Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR) & Strike capabilities to satisfy the United States Air Force’s responsibility to meet joint military capability requirements. The CDO assesses current airborne capabilities, identifies capability gaps, evaluates potential non-materiel and materiel solutions, and conducts technology maturation activities. Additionally, the CDO represents the ISR & Special Operations Forces Directorate in support of all capability development and planning activities. Demand for ISR, Strike, and Special Operations capabilities are only growing, and the need to integrate best-of-breed commercial solutions has risen rapidly across the portfolio. Evaluations are done with the operator in mind, and the government may select vendors who show greatest potential to achieve the WIS & CDO mission.

This CSO is based on 10 U.S.C. 3458 authority. This CSO may use FAR part 12 award procedures or other Department of the Air Force authorities to award innovative solutions, including agreements under 10 U.S.C. 4022. The Department of the Air Force (DAF), AFLCMC/HNI, AI PMO is seeking information from qualified vendors regarding an AI solution that can integrate with existing DAF Microsoft Office productivity software to provide generative AI capabilities, deliver automated data analysis, and facilitate collaboration. The objective of this RFI is to gather information from industry experts on AI solutions that enhance workplace efficiency across the DAF. Industry feedback will help inform the development of a future Performance Work Statement (PWS) for a potential contract opportunity.

Information received from this RFI will be used for acquisition planning and market research purposes; an acquisition strategy has not yet been developed or approved for this capability. As such, any response submitted to this RFI constitutes consent for that submission to be reviewed by military personnel, Government civilians, and Government support contractors.

The CROO solution will incorporate BigBear.ai’s SpaceCREST technology, a comprehensive digital twin capability that serves as a real-time monitor and alerting system of a satellite network’s cyber infrastructure. This project aims to enhance the security of the U.S. Air Force (USAF) and the U.S. Space Force (USSF) on-orbit assets through Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) cyber intrusion detection.

“Proof Labs is excited to collaborate with BigBear.ai to develop and deliver an advanced intrusion detection system utilizing artificial intelligence for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Space Cyber Resiliency program,” said Ricardo Aguilar, co-founder and CEO of Proof Labs Inc. “This work combines Proof Labs’ innovation with BigBear.ai’s expertise in AI-driven analytics to enhance the cybersecurity of critical space assets. The integration of innovative technologies will support USAF’s and USSF’s mission to maintain resilient and secure space capabilities.”

BigBear.ai will train the CROO’s AI/ML against a wide range of simulated cyberattacks, covering well-established tactics and procedures. The CROO solution will analyze, evaluate, and classify the behavior of USSF satellite systems in normal operation, versus while under the influence of simulated cyberattacks.

BigBear.ai will then integrate these advanced machine learning algorithms for continuous live monitoring and real-time anomaly and intrusion detection. These algorithms will monitor select USSF space assets’ cyber environments to detect and alert USSF of potential threats in real-time.

Movius has already been awarded multiple Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contracts through AFWERX, Tactical Funding Increase (TACFI) award, and most recently a Phase III award to scale enhanced secure communication capabilities. Movius’s solutions will contribute directly to the Department of the Air Force’s (DAF) strategic need for resilient information sharing, secure decentralized and distributed communications, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, assured communications, and situational awareness with Movius’s edge AI.

Movius’s MultiLine solution is a secure, scalable application that allows users to call and message through a secure business identity across any device, carrier, and connection type (Wi-Fi, Data, GSM, Satellite and Private). MultiLine supports built-in recording and call/message capture and storage for the entire workforce, enabling full surveillance, regulatory reporting, compliance management, and robust application security. The solution is also supported on legacy government cell phone programs.

Movius Decentralized Distributed Secure Communications solution enables decentralized, military grade communications globally, including in a denied and degraded network environment. With this solution there are no central server dependencies or risk of communications being blocked or thwarted. It includes the notion of self-sovereign identity.

The original Phase III SBIR contract, which closed in September 2022, was awarded through Air Force Installations and Sustainment Center and Air Mobility Command (AMC) to accelerate the transition of DEFCON AI’s MS&A tool ARTIV from prototype to production code. In July 2024, DEFCON AI delivered ARTIV to the Air Force, receiving strong customer feedback. That same month, the company also deployed a prototype of ARTIV to DoD Impact Level 6 via public-benefit software company Second Front Solutions, permitting data processing and planning at DoD’s secret level of classification. The second option year now extends DEFCON AI’s Phase III SBIR contract with AMC to September of 2025.

“AMC’s decision to exercise this second option year not only demonstrates its confidence in our ability to deliver cutting-edge, mission-critical technology to the Air Force, it also speaks to DEFCON AI’s progress as a company and our staying power within the defense industry,” said DEFCON AI Co-Founder and CEO Yisroel Brumer. “The award enables DEFCON AI to continue advancing next-generation logistics planning tools and building on our existing optimization and intelligent capabilities.
