The collaboration has roots in the Army’s Ivy Sting exercises, which validate emerging NGC2 capabilities under operational conditions. In this series, applications like LMI’s SHEPRD are hosted in the NGC2 ecosystem, enabled by Lattice Mesh, and tested in field exercises alongside active Army units.

During Ivy Sting 4, LMI rapidly modified and deployed SHEPRD at IL6 – the highest level of authorization for cloud systems handling Secret classified data – in a matter of weeks, a process that would traditionally take months or longer. That acceleration was made possible through close, iterative collaboration between LMI, Anduril, and the Army, with all three focused on mission outcomes over ownership.

The result was a fundamentally different development cycle, where capabilities could be fielded, evaluated, and refined in near real time. Building on that success, LMI and Anduril now embark on a Rapid Development Pilot to extend this model, delivering additional soldier-centric applications that address real operational challenges faced by warfighters, LMI said.

“The promise of NGC2 is a virtual arsenal of built-for-combat apps that are accessible to any and all units as needed, and that’s compelling on its own,” said SHEPRD Platform Lead Allen Rivers. “But we’ve also shown that you can deliver these solutions securely, as they’re needed, with an incredibly short turnover between ideation, production, and deployment. That combination of pace and availability is a game changer.”

“The measure of NGC2 is how fast the Army can pull combat-ready capability from any partner into soldiers’ hands,” said Zach Kramer, GM for mission command, Anduril Industries. “SHEPRD’s deployment at Ivy Sting showed what’s possible when the platform is built to accelerate the ecosystem instead of constrain it, and this Rapid Development Pilot with LMI is how we make that the standard across the Army enterprise.”

“What we proved at Ivy Sting is that you can take a capability from concept to deployment in weeks, not months, even in secure environments,” said LMI CTO Jared Summers. “Anduril has built the ecosystem to make that possible, and together we’re showing what a new model for delivering capability looks like.”

The Government intends to convene a Threat Coordination Group (TCG) to facilitate dialogue with cleared industry partners regarding emerging and evolving threats relevant to the Command and Control (C2)/Counter-C2 portfolio. The objective is to enhance shared understanding of the future threat environment to inform capability development and capture requirements for additional information, intelligence data, and threat models.

The TCG is intended to facilitate informed, two-way dialogue between Government intelligence analysts and industry to improve shared understanding of the evolving threat environment and its implications for capability development, modernization, and risk management across the armor ground maneuver portfolios.

The TCG will address global technology trends relevant to acquisition decision-making, including but not limited to:

• Peer and near-peer technology trends
• Threat electronic warfare and cyber capabilities
• Survivability and lethality challenges in contested environments
• Counter-UAS, Counter-GPS and emerging threat considerations

CENTCOM, in partnership with the Defense Innovation Unit, is initiating an open call to find, vet, validate, and integrate new and emerging technologies in alignment with CENTCOM’s strategic technology priority areas. EXTiC 26-2 provides relevant scenarios to Joint Command participants as they seek to establish an operationally relevant environment for new technologies and design cost-effective, repeatable experimentation events relevant to the future of warfare.

Submissions will be assessed by a peer panel which may include DoW and supporting industry and academic Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) that will determine the technical merit of submissions based on maturity and mission threat alignment. If a submission is deemed “awardable” it may be eligible for award of further research, prototyping, procurement for experimental purposes, and even production under 10 USC 4021, 10 USC 4022, 10 USC 3458, FAR/DFARS Part 35, and DFARS Subpart 212.70, and 10 USC 4023.

Purpose: Find, vet, validate, and integrate new and emerging technologies into EXTiC 26-2 in alignment with CENTCOM’s strategic technology priority areas. This experimentation event provides relevant scenarios to Joint Command participants as they seek to establish an operationally relevant environment for new technologies and design cost-effective, repeatable experimentation events relevant to the future of warfare.

Department of War (DoW) experimentation events are vital for advancing military capabilities and ensuring strategic readiness. These events enable the validation of emerging technologies and innovative concepts and enhance operational effectiveness and preparedness. The mission of the Defense Innovation OnRamp Hub: Arizona’s EXTiC program is to provide the DoW with a structured, repeatable venue for rapidly integrating, testing, and assessing emerging technologies alongside Warfighters in operationally relevant environments. EXTiC events accelerate the transition of capabilities from concept to the field, ensuring that technology serves the mission and strengthens the Joint Force’s readiness for future conflict.

To support the development of an operationally coherent mission thread for EXTiC 26-2, the Government is seeking technologies that can be integrated, stressed, and evaluated across the verticals outlined below. The intent is not to showcase isolated systems, but to identify capabilities that can function inside a realistic, contested environment where detection, custody, adversarial pressure, Command and Control (C2) integration, and resilience are exercised end-to-end.

“Edge devices have become the most targeted assets on the internet, and the industry’s visibility into what happens after they’re compromised has been dangerously limited,” said Ash Devata, CEO, GreyNoise Intelligence. “GreyNoise has always been one of the most authoritative sources on inbound network threats. Cyber adversaries frequently attack edge devices to exploit known vulnerabilities and gain access. GreyNoise utilizes the world’s most sophisticated deception network of over 5,000 sensors in 80 countries to observe internet traffic and can determine whether activity is malicious in intent based on certain behavioral characteristics and patterns. In cases where an IP is attempting to initiate a download of malware onto a network, valuable insights can be found in the network’s outbound traffic log, since compromised devices often call out to C2 servers to receive additional instructions. This information can provide valuable insights to help security teams determine whether their perimeter has been breached.

Powered by GreyNoise’s callback IP intelligence and malware hash data, C2 Detection provides post-exploitation, outbound-facing threat intelligence by surfacing active compromise through outbound communication with attacker-controlled infrastructure. It provides an end-to-end overview about how attacks actually work, including what payloads were delivered, what binaries were downloaded, which external servers were used for Command and Control, and what commands and behaviors were associated with those sessions.

By matching outbound egress traffic against a continuously updated dataset of confirmed malware-hosting IPs and C2 infrastructure, C2 Detection produces a signal that indicates exactly how serious each match is. Security teams can use this dataset of ‘phone home’ addresses that compromised devices communicate with for potential breach detection via outbound telemetry by matching it against their outbound logs. If an internal device has been communicating with malicious IPs, there is a high degree of likelihood that the device has been compromised.

“With C2 Detection, GreyNoise is effectively closing the visibility gap at the edge of the network,” said Corey Bodzin, chief product officer, GreyNoise Intelligence. “Up until now, security teams have had a structural blind spot on post-exploitation activity, especially on edge devices like firewalls, VPN concentrators, and internet-facing IoT. During the exercise, held at Fort Carson, Colo., SHEPRD provided protection cells — teams responsible for safeguarding personnel, equipment, and operations against enemy targeting — with a real-time operating picture that integrated threat data, asset locations, terrain effects, and protection coverage into a single app environment. The platform demonstrated rapid visualization of risk, synchronized protection measures, and adjustment of posture as conditions changed.

Protection cells often operate in secure environments, where availability of emerging technologies lags. This creates a reliance on manual processes and the reconciliation of data across multiple systems, spreadsheets, and planning documents.

As a platform operating within the Army’s NGC2 enterprise environment, SHEPRD brings protection planning, analysis, and execution into a single system. It introduces capabilities such as 3D modeling and automated, risk-based prioritization of protection requirements, giving protection cells a clear view of assets, threats, and coverage within a secure environment. This allows teams to holistically prioritize assets and identify emerging risks as conditions evolve.

“During Ivy Sting, we saw how quickly protection conditions can change and how hard it is for teams to stay aligned using manual processes,” said Allen Rivers, LMI SHEPRD platform lead. “SHEPRD gives protection cells a shared, real-time view of assets, threats, and coverage so they can adjust their posture and make decisions without delay.”

SHEPRD is part of LMI’s broader work supporting the Army’s modernization effort. During the Ivy Sting 5 exercise, the platform successfully operated within the Army’s IL6 (SIPRNet) environment and integrated with other emerging technologies currently under evaluation.

“Ivy Sting is designed to test technology in operational conditions,” said Jared Summers, chief technology officer at LMI. “Seeing SHEPRD perform in that environment validated our confidence that the platform is ready to support protection missions as the Army modernizes command and control. Now, we’re looking ahead to Project Convergence Capstone 6 this summer.”

In partnership with the Army’s 25th Infantry Division, CPE C2IN, and industry partners Lockheed Martin, Accelint, and Rune Technologies, Raft delivered real-time, hardware- and data-agnostic synchronization of sensors, fires, ISR, and sustainment systems under live-fire conditions at the tactical edge. Both exercises validate that a software-defined, data-first approach accelerates decisions, increases soldier lethality, and enables decisive multi-domain operations at speed and scale.

During Lightning Surge 2, division artillery soldiers from the 25th Infantry Division demonstrated Raft Data Platform and Raft AI Mission System ingesting live calls for fires and compressing a soldier intensive process into an automated workflow. The demonstration validated, under senior leadership scrutiny, that AI-powered, agnostic data integration can materially accelerate lethal decision cycles in live-fire conditions at the tactical edge.

The Kronos program is a USSF initiative to develop a modern, integrated battle management and command-and-control (C2) Family of Systems that enhances decision advantage for joint and coalition space operations. Kronos is designed to integrate modular, extensible, and interoperable software solutions that support operational planning, execution, and assessment across the space domain while modernizing legacy capabilities and enabling rapid integration of commercial innovation.

The Kronos Family of Systems is currently focused around three primary Areas of Interest (AOIs):
