On May 18, GRVTY announced the launch of Maritime Technologies, a new organization within the company’s CTO office dedicated to delivering breakthrough capability across the maritime domain. Built to meet the urgency of today’s contested seas, Maritime Technologies unifies a portfolio of proven technologies spanning four pillars critical to modern naval operations: autonomy, endurance, precision navigation, and scale, the company said.

As adversary investments in maritime systems accelerate and the demand for distributed, survivable forces grows, Maritime Technologies is purpose-built to give the U.S. and allied warfighters the tools to outpace the threat. It brings together a suite of prototype, fielded, and field-ready systems under a single mission: deliver innovation on the high seas, at the speed of relevance.

“Along with our compelling portfolio in space, spectrum, and cyber, the maritime domain is where the next decade of strategic competition will be decided,” said Dr. Phil Root, chief technology officer of GRVTY and head of Maritime Technologies. “Maritime Technologies is our answer: a focused, mission-driven team that puts autonomy, range, precision navigation, and scale directly in the hands of the operators who need them most.”

On April 21, GRVTY, a leading defense technology company, and Colorado-based DeNOVO, introduced Coalition Edge, a distributed edge analytics capability delivering real-time geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) and RF-driven insight across connected, congested, degraded and denied operational environments.

Coalition Edge is a cross-company collaboration that delivers edgeless connectivity and mission‑ready intelligence. The integrated solution ensures a continuous flow of data, analytics and insights across dynamic operational conditions, enabling greater situational awareness and decision support without reliance on persistent networks or centralized infrastructure.

Coalition members and their contributions include:

GRVTY: Mission analytics and orchestration layer powered by Origin, GRVTY’s automated intelligence platform, transforming multi-INT edge and cloud outputs into prioritized, auditable, and releasable intelligence products that enable interoperability between intelligence and other warfighting functions across dynamic, bandwidth-limited operational environments.

DeNOVO Solutions: Coalition organizer and lead integrator, responsible for interoperability, analytics augmentation, and orchestration across distributed edge and cloud environments.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE): Tactical edge compute, providing ruggedized infrastructure for low-latency processing and sustained AI/ML performance at the edge.

NVIDIA: AI/ML acceleration, enabling real-time inference and standardized model deployment across edge and cloud environments.

Rancher Government Services: Infrastructure and application orchestration, managing containerized services and lifecycle operations across distributed environments.

T‑Mobile: Resilient connectivity backbone, supporting secure transport, priority routing, and continuity of operations across connected and degraded conditions.

Urban Sky: Stratospheric sensing and collection layer, providing EO and full‑motion video data from high-altitude balloon platforms to support interoperable, multi‑INT edge analytics.

The concept of edgeless connectivity captures and addresses an operational reality in which systems function across connected, intermittently connected and fully disconnected states, regardless of connectivity conditions.

“Coalition Edge is about turning distributed data into actionable intelligence, even in adverse conditions,” said Katie Selbe, chief executive officer at GRVTY. “Through our Origin platform, we’re demonstrating how multi‑INT data collected at the edge can be fused, orchestrated, and delivered as prioritized, auditable intelligence fast enough to support real mission decisions.”

On February 23, GRVTY announced the appointment of Peter Ranks as chief strategy officer. In this role, Ranks will advance the company’s strategic plan, initiatives, and expansion into new mission areas.

“Pete is an exceptional addition to the GRVTY executive leadership team,” said Katie Selbe, GRVTY’s chief executive officer. “Through his service to the nation both at the Central Intelligence Agency and the Department of War, he has earned a perspective few possess. GRVTY has been growing intentionally, and Pete’s ability to anticipate and act on the nexus of strategic context, technology, and mission is second to none.”

Ranks has devoted his career to national security. Prior to GRVTY, Ranks spent 27 years at the CIA where he began his tenure as a network engineer, ultimately concluding as the first Assistant Director of the CIA for Cyber Intelligence. In prior roles, Ranks supported the CIA’s counterproliferation and counterterrorism missions and managed the Intelligence Community’s first cloud computing partnership with industry.

“What drew me to GRVTY is the vision and ambition of the company,” said Ranks. “We’re at a pivotal moment in our nation’s security, and GRVTY’s focus on embracing and developing the latest defense technologies, delivering field-ready mission solutions, and doing what’s in the warfighter’s best interest, all at speed and scale, is what fundamentally sets this company apart from all the rest.
